Alley Loop Wrap-up, Two clinics this week

Nathan Schultz will be leading a skate techique clinic Tuesday night at the shop and our wax clinic topic this week is a Tour of the Stone Grinding Process.  Details and notes from the Alley Loop inside as well.

Sorry for the lack of wax updates from Crested Butte - we had some trouble getting down there and the internet was down at our house when we arrived.  The conditions were unusual and we ended up testing a lot of different waxes at 7PM Friday night.  High fluoros were working well, despite the new cold snow.  Wary of putting on a lot of fluoro for Saturday's race, we got up early and tested again Saturday morning.  The same result - Cold, HF waxes with pure fluoro top coat were best.  We frantically waxed all of our client's skis and then two pairs of test skis since Nathan forgot his race skis in the rush to get out of town.

Adam and Nathan raced in the Alley Loop 42km and ended up doing pretty well for a bunch of guys that wax skis.  Nathan raced on a pair of test skis that we ground last week with ZR40 and had been through the heat box.  They seemed pretty good for only having two layers of Toko HF Blue in them and he ended up 2nd.  Adam had some trouble with his skis as his new Rossi's with Z40XL were probably a bit aggressive on the structure and too stiff for the soft track.  He soldiered on to 7th which should help his Birkie wave position quite a bit.

Clinics this week:

We have two clinics scheduled this week.  Tuesday night (2/5) is our first of two weeks of technique clinics with a skate technique put on by Nathan Schultz.  Cost is $25, details and registration here or in the store.  We'll have a classic clinic 2/12.

This week's Thursday night Wax clinic topic is Stone Grinding and we will be doing a tour of the stone grinding process as well as talking about structure and how to use it to have faster skis.
