12km Classic, 12km Freestyle, 6km High School Classic. Mass starts.
Nine Mile Forest has gotten about an inch of snow each day this week, covering the remnants of the rain storm two weeks ago. Trail conditions are very good.
Weather (per NOAA) – Friday night: Cloudy, with a low around 15. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Snow accumulation of around 2 inches. Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high of 18. Wind gusts of up to 21mph.
Recommendation - Forecast Based
We recommend the following:
Base Layer: SkiGo LF Graphite. Iron, scrape, and brush.
Race Paraffin: Holmenkol Matrix Blue or SkiGo HF Green.
Fluoro Powder: Holmenkol Speed Powder Cold or SkiGo C105.
Top Coat: Covering the ironed fluoro with a hand-corked layer of fluoro will provide optimal speed. SkiGo C105 or Holmenkol Speedblock Cold should be good options.
Kick Recommendations:
Binder: Iron in Toko Carbon Base Grip, given the new snow be sure to keep your binder layer very thin.
Kick Wax: SkiGo HF Violet. If more speed is necessary considering covering with Rode Blue Multigrade. As always with kick wax it is best to test morning of rather than trust a recommendation written in advance, but this should be a good starting point.
