Weston Eastern Ski Cup

Event Description – Weston Eastern Cup in Weston, MA is a two event day with a Skate Sprint Prologue in the morning followed by a 5k/10k Skate Mass start for women and men in the afternoon.

Weather – There is new snow forecast for the area later in the week running up to race day.

Race Day Weather: Mostly sunny with an overnight low around 15 with race time temperatures in the mid 20’s.

Base Layer: SkiGo LF Graphite iron, scrape brush

Race Paraffin: SkiGo HF Blue or Holmenkol Matrix Blue with Matrix Red being a better choice in the afternoon

Fluoro Powder: C105 Powder or Holmenkol Mid Block

Top Coat: C105 block, Holmenkol Mid Block Rubbed on, Corked  in and brushed out with a nylon brush. It is worthwhile to test SkiGo C22 solid as well.

Discussion: Skigo LF Graphite will help harden the base and help provide durability. This is especially important if you are planning on using the same skis for both the sprint and the distance race.  With new snow on its way, there is a good chance that SkiGo HF Blue will run very well, as it has a wide temperature range and runs very well in new snow. For added speed SkiGo C105 or Holmenkol Mid Powder could be very fast. It’s also important to apply a rub on top layer of either C105 solid or Holmenkol Mid Block to the skis for initial speed in both the sprint and the distance race. The sleeper wax could be SkiGo C22 solid which has been winning tests all over New England this year in all weather types.
