BNS Wax Recommendation

Christmas Skate Prologue – NRL at Sun Valley

Event date/ time: Saturday ‐ December 17, 2011 – 11am

Location: Galena Lodge, Idaho (20 miles North of Sun Valley)

Technique: Skate

Distance: 3.6km

Weather: NOAA Forecast

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 32. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 14. Light north northwest wind.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 36. Light and variable wind.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 16.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 33.

Recommendation based on: local knowledge, skied trails in past few days and forecast based recommendation. Snow is old/abrasive and not much of it, hope to get .5” to 1.0” of new over this on Thursday night. Snow at Galena always skis slow due to high elevation and low humidity, it can be squeaky slow with air temp in mid 20’s – we always wax cold for Galena!

Recommendation

We recommend the following:

Base Layer: Ski‐Go LF Graphite, cool, scrape, brush

Race Paraffin: Holmenkol Matrix Blue/Black

Fluoro Powder: not recommended

Top Coat: SkiGo C105 solid, corked, brushed

Structure: Finite L04 (Finite Ski Tools, Linear .4mm)

note: BNS imports Holmenkol and SkiGo waxes, and also sells waxes from Swix, Toko, Rode, Solda, Rex, Guru, Innovax, Magnar and others. We search for the fastest waxes for our customers and our testing is professional, objective and transparent. We make our best effort to test what we think is the best from each brand.  However, given that we are testing more options from Holmenkol and SkiGo, there is a bias toward those brands.  With this full disclosure, you can assess the legitimacy of our testing yourself. Visit Swix and Toko for their official recommendations. If you have any questions please contact us.
