Event Description – Wasatch Citizen series #2 – 10K Skate, Soldier Hollow – 12/31/11. Start time 10:00 kids, 10:20 adults.

Tonight: Snow after 11pm. Snow level 7100 feet lowering to 5600 feet after midnight . Low around 22. South wind 6 to 9 mph becoming west between 17 and 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Saturday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. Northwest wind between 10 and 13 mph becoming light. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Recommendation based on on snow test Friday 12/30/11 at 10:30AM at Soldier Hollow.

We recommend the following:
Base Layer: Ski-go LF Graphite.
Race Paraffin: Ski-Go Violet HF
Fluoro Powder: Ski-Go C44.
Top Coat: Ski-Go C44 liquid.
Structure: Finite V05+AF10
Testing Discussion – Tested Holmenkol Matrix Red with Holmenkol Mid08 powder, Ski-Go Violet HF with Ski-Go C44 powder, Ski-Go Yellow HF with Ski-Go C22 powder. All three skis within testing tolerance of each other – Matrix Red slightly faster followed by Violet HF and then Yellow HF. Used both Glide testing and testing by feel and with different combinations on each foot. Ski flex and grind may have greater impact than wax, as long as a good Fluoro is used. Recommend a stiffer ski, unless it gets really warm.
RESULTS OF TEST: If it stays warm overnight – go with the Yellow HF/C22 combo. If it snows at all – the Matrix Red/Mid08 combo will be fastest. If the weather follows the prediction, the Violet HF/C44 combo will probably work best.
