Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 35. Wind chill values as low as -3. Northwest wind between 6 and 9 mph becoming calm.
Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow after 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 8. Wind chill values as low as -4. Calm wind becoming west northwest around 5 mph.
Saturday: A 20 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. North northwest wind around 9 mph
Recommendation based on: local knowledge, skied trails in past few days and Forecast Based Recommendation. Snow is new with some old possibly tilled up. The windy conditions will blow off any surface moisture and snow will ski cold and possibly abrasive.
Glide Recommendation
Base Layer: Ski-Go LF Graphite, cool, scrape, brush
Race Paraffin: Holmenkol Matrix Blue/Black or Matrix Blue
Toko HF Blue -or- Swix HF6 are worthy candidates. We have had fast skis running Matrix Blue/ Black the past week. Budget wax would have to be Swix LF6, never the fastest but always in the running on these trails.
Top Coat: SkiGo C105 solid, corked, brushed
Structure: Finite L04 (Finite Ski Tools, Linear .4mm), if warms quicker possibly go with V03 on tails in addition to L04
Kick Recommendation
Testing will be required for perfection, but V40 and V45 has kicked well over the past few days. With possible mixed conditions Rode Multigrade Blue may be the winner. This is a flatter course with a great deal of double poling, do not over wax – go for speed over kick.
