BNS Wax Recommendation

Event:  Teton Ridge Classic -  Driggs, ID

Event date/ time:  Saturday - January 14, 2012  – 10am

Location:  Teton Ridge Ranch - (10 miles North East of Driggs -  www.tetonridgeclassic.com)

Technique:  Classic

Distance:  28k, 14k, 5k, and Tour class

Weather:  NOAA Forecast

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 31.  West southwest wind around 6 mph.
Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 10-13. Wind chill values as low as -3(F)
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 35(F). East southwest wind at 6 mph becoming south southwest.

Recommendation based on:  Forecast Based Recommendation, race organizer comments. Snow will be very abrasive – some new but old snow will be tilled up. Also some windy conditions will blow off any surface moisture.  Forecast looks straight forward extra blue skiing, but the lack of snow pack and inability to groom regularly will make the conditions unique.

Glide Recommendation

Base Layer:  Ski-Go LF Graphite, cool, scrape, brush

Race Paraffin:  Holmenkol Matrix Blue/Black or Matrix Blue

Top Coat:  SkiGo C105 solid, corked, brushed

Structure:  Finite L02 on tips and Finite L04 on tails (Finite Ski Tools, Linear .2mm & .4mm)

Kick Recommendation

On-site Testing required.  (never forget TRC2011)

Considerations:   Klister binder, covered with Kick Wax might be the call – so come prepared.

Initial testing might be great with kick wax with standard binder, but if racing the 28km consider the track conditions for the second lap, they will become glazed and you will need durability.

note: BNS imports Holmenkol and SkiGo waxes, and also sells waxes from Swix, Toko, Rode, Solda, Rex, Guru, Innovax, Magnar and others. We search for the fastest waxes for our customers and our testing is professional, objective and transparent. We make our best effort to test what we think is the best from each brand.  However, given that we are testing more options from Holmenkol and SkiGo, there is a bias toward those brands.  With this full disclosure, you can assess the legitimacy of our testing yourself. Visit Swix and Toko for their official recommendations. If you have any questions please contact us.
