Today: A chance of snow showers before noon, then a chance for flurries. Partly sunny, with a high near 13. North wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around -9. Wind chill values between -15 and -25. North wind between 5 and 10 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 16. Wind chill values between -15 and -25. West wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -3. West wind around 5 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 28. West wind between 5 and 10 mph.

We recommend the following:

Base Layer: Ski*Go LF Grahite

Race Paraffin:  Holmenkol Matrix Blue or Ski*Go HF Blue

Fluoro Powder: Ski*Go C105 Powder or Holmenkol Cold Powder.

Topcoat: Ski*Go C105 block or Holmenkol Cold Block.

Kick: A binder will be required for the abrasive snow underneath the new snowfall.  We recommend Toko Green binder with a few dabs of a blue klister such as Rode Blue Klister or Rex Blue Klister mixed in, ironed and cooled.  The binder should then be covered with a hardwax.  Some choices to try are Ski*Go HF Violet, Holmenkol Blue or Blue Spezial, or Guru Blue.  If more kick is required Rode MultiGrade Violet could work, although this may sacrifice glide.

We recommend a layer of Ski*Go LF Graphite for durability, this is especially important for this weekend as the snow is old and abrasive.  The colder temperatures forecasted for Satruday night will require a cold and hard paraffin on Sunday morning such as Matrix Blue or Ski*Go HF Blue.  Ski*Go HF Blue could be a good option if there is more snowfall on Friday.  For powder we recommend Ski*Go C105 or Holmenkol Cold Powder, both of these  powders have run well in these types of conditions on the Birkie Trail.  For the maximum speed out of the start we recommend a topcoat of Ski*Go C105 Block or Holmenkol Cold Block.

note: BNS imports Holmenkol and SkiGo waxes, and also sells waxes from Swix, Toko, Rode, Solda, Rex, Guru, Innovax, Magnar and others. We search for the fastest waxes for our customers and our testing is professional, objective and transparent. We make our best effort to test what we think is the best from each brand.  However, given that we are testing more options from Holmenkol and SkiGo, there is a bias toward those brands.  With this full disclosure, you can assess the legitimacy of our testing yourself. Visit Swix and Toko for their official recommendations. If you have any questions please contact us.
