Recommendations:
BNS will try to test late Friday and post results, but it may not happen. We'll take a look at conditions and make our recommendation from afar Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. But we may update with real test results on snow Friday night.
Given the current forecast, it looks like the snow will be a mix of old and new. A soft to universal flex ski with fine grind will perform best in these conditions. ZR1 or CV0 will be the best grind choices. Addition of fine linear structure may help the skis release at high speed, especially given that the new snow will be falling at relatively warm temps.
Base Layer: SkiGo LF Graphite or Toko LF Moly will harden up the bases and provide some dry lubrication for the typical aggressive snow crystals found for the BMT.
Paraffins to Consider:
- Holmenkol Matrix Blue
- SkiGo HF Blue
- Toko HF Blue
- Swix LF6
Fluoro Powders/Blocks to Consider:
- Holmenkol Mid 08
- SkiGo C105
Toko HF Blue tests very well in Crested Butte, so in our experience it is always worth trying it there.
Visit Swix and Toko for their recommendations.
