BNS Wax Recommendations

Minimize
As racers, coaches and service technicians, we've worked at every level of the sport from local high school races to Olympics and World Championships.  When we launched BNS, one of the first things we did was start publishing wax reports that included multiple brands.  We figured that the while typical wax reports from each company were useful, most racers want to know what wax is fastest - period - not just what is running best from each brand.

These wax reports are our best effort at providing objective, useful information for racers. We import several wax brands including Holmenkol, SkiGo, Guru, Magnar and Gallium, and we sell Swix, Toko, Rex, Rode and Start, among others. We try our best to test as many waxes as possible, but it is just not possible to test everything, and no test is infallible.  With this in mind, we seek full transparency in every one of our recommendations by discussing how we test, what the results are and what we recommend, so you can trust our work and decide for yourself how valuable our recommendations are.  We hope that these reports will be useful to you and help you make fast skis!

Forecast Based Recommendation

Recommendation

We recommend the following:

Base Layer: Ski*Go LF Graphite

Race Paraffin: Holmenkol Matrix Red HF

Fluoro Powder: Holmenkol Mid08

Kick: Ski*Go HF Blue

Structure: Finite L04

Testing Discussion – The snow will be mostly old, dry, natural snow – grainy, and probably running on the warm side for glide wax. For kick, the old Toko Dark Red used to work really well if you don’t have any Ski*Go waxes. It might be borderline klister conditions, and you might want to consider a violet klister (covered, if new snow present). If the conditions are like last Saturday, fluoro powder will make a big difference, due to the snow crystals being melted by the sun (only if a clear sunny day).

note: BNS imports Holmenkol and SkiGo waxes, and also sells waxes from Swix, Toko, Rode, Solda, Rex, Guru, Innovax, Magnar and others. We search for the fastest waxes for our customers and our testing is professional, objective and transparent. We make our best effort to test what we think is the best from each brand.  However, given that we are testing more options from Holmenkol and SkiGo, there is a bias toward those brands.  With this full disclosure, you can assess the legitimacy of our testing yourself. Visit Swix and Toko for their official recommendations. If you have any questions please contact us.
