Rossi Xium Classic Ski is a race ski through and through. The javelin tip creates a very free feel with a relatively high camber to keep the skis running fast. In general, these skis can take a lot of wax under the foot but need to be carefully waxed in front where the pocket generally ends abruptly.
BNS has worked closely with the Rossi US race team, Zack Simons, and met with the World Cup Race Service team to figure out these skis and we are confident in our ability to pick good ones. All of these skis are hand-picked by BNS at the Rossignol warehouse, ensuring the highest quality.
The Rossi Classic is high strung and is not the most stable ski out there. While it is not unstable, it is something to consider: if you are not comfortable on downhills, you may want to consider an alternative. If you are confident and capable of staying on top of a ski, then the Rossi is a fast, fun ski.
The numbering system is opposite of their skate skis: C1 (Q8040) for soft conditions, C2 (Q8050) for harder track and C3 for Klister. The skis come out of the same mold, but just have higher camber heights to get the progressively stickier and thicker wax layers off the snow.
The AR (Q8060) is Rossignol's wax pattern which we have found to be consistently the fastest among the waxless race skis. The negative side of the fast waxless pattern is that it tends to be the least capable of handling hard-track, icy conditions. But for a good skier capable of complete weight transfer, the Rossi AR is a blast and could be a good wild card for tricky conditions on race day.
Comes with NIS plate which can accept NNN NIS bindings. Salomon bindings can be mounted on top of the NIS plate and we have had no trouble with either binding system on NIS plates.
