The new 2010-2011 Alpina ECL Classic Boot adds insulation to the 2009-2010 version, adding a little warmth to what was the only flaw in the previous generation. Everything else about this boot remains, unchanged, which is great, because it is one of our favorites with a buttery smooth kick, amazing stability and great fit.
Out-of-the-box thinking sums up their design concept. The Alpina
R&D team have been diligently working on this project for well over
three years, studying athletic footwear from literally all the sports.
They investigated new materials, new techniques of manufacturing and new
technologies. Then they focused their energies on combining totally new
slip materials, a whole new approach to fit, lacing, and a dynamic new
shape to the cuff on skate boots.
The result of this is the Elite series that delivers the closest
integration of foot to boot to ski imaginable. They provide a feeling
that is like having your foot directly attached to the ski. The fit is
the most precise, comfortable second skin racing that has ever been
brought to the market.
The Elite Carbon Classic (ECL) is incredibly light, with a buttery
smooth sole that gives you the best feel for the ski underfoot we've
ever experienced. The shoe last provides superb lateral and torsional
support, but moves easily with the soft sole. When lacing this boot,
take care not to overtighten them, as the lacing system is so powerful
it is easy to overdo it and cut off circulation.
